Why? Look I live in a deeply red county in my state, but I don't give a shit. Change does not happen by sitting out and giving up. Montana has a democratic governor. That a person may realize the futility of voting in their situation (or in general) doesn't mean that they cant see that things have gone awry or that they have no grounds for complaint. Hell..what has all the voting done, anyway? The votes against have failed and the votes for are -why- that thing is happening.
Is it entirely unreasonable to suggest that..were enough people to recognize the farce for what it is and do something a little more effective than pull a lever for "the lesser of two evils"..we might see real change? You dont see me at a casino trying to get rich - there's a reason for that.

Many years ago, Reader's Digest had an article about having a "none of the above" check box on ballots. Ostensibly, it would drive the parties to field different suspects. That would have been a nice choice, last presidential election.

Florida is an interesting state, btw. The populations centers are....in day to day life...-very- liberal (banana hammocks for you, and you, and you, banana hammocks for errybody!)..but at the middle-to-bottom of the list for dem votes when it comes time to yank the lever.
The neighborhood I'm from, S. Pasadena/ Paradise/TI..is ranked at the bottom of the list - dead last-, even though it ostensibly contains Gulfport, the gay capital of the Bay and is demonstrably full of libs.
(it's a super fuckin ritzy piece of St. Petersburg, is why, long story short - beautiful pink property walls, terracotta roofs, firs all around - we're all about them breaks, bout them breaks..no taxes.)

People are free to participate in so far as they are able and inclined to do so. That they don't participate in one part of the process is not an argument that they should be excluded from other parts of the process.
