All I recall from the films we got to watch was about getting VD. I knew the mechanics of it by then, anyway (you put your penis inside the woman's "front bum").  I don't recall hearing anything in CCD (catechism) in my teens.

Ever noticed that the people who screech the loudest in favor of abstinence only are typically people you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place?!?

The "standards" for sex ed in this country are deplorable. It should be a comprehensive course on it's own, not just some bit tacked on in health or gym class. It should also be compulsory. If the parents don't like it, they can feel free to home school their kids, the sex ed materials will be made available to them, and yes, little Johnny and Susy will still be required to demonstrate knowledge of the subject to get a diploma.

Oh, and attempting to scare kids into abstinence should be a fucking felony!

Hmm, I always wondered what they told the boys. I went to Catholic school and in high school at around age 15 or 16, they brought in someone to talk the girls and boys separately about sex. I can't remember what they called it but it wasn't called sex education. One of the girls in my class asked who should be responsible for birth control, the boy or girl? And the answer was basically "no".
Side note - in my high school, a classmate was raped behind the school by a boy and another classmate got pregnant our senior year and wasn't allowed to attend school; they made her get home-schooled instead.

My own kid had classes called "family health" aka sex education in 4th and 5 grades (ages 9 and 10). I looked over the class materials and thought what they taught was appropriate. She was given worksheets in class with female and male anatomy and had to fill in the blanks on the worksheets. I noticed she wrote "eww" on the male worksheet. No idea where she got that from!

For my first introduction to sex ED in 4th grade, all I remember was the boys and girls were taken into separate classrooms and taught about our baby making parts. At one point I had to use the restroom. On my way back I forgot what room we were in so I ended up walking in on the boys' room.

Thank Cthulhu we moved the next year, else I would've never heard the end of it.
