Where in the bible do you find support for this belief?  Even if one takes the "a thousand years is as a day" passage as something more than a figurative statement, that still leaves the earth way too young according to the bible.

No it doesn't. It doesn't go into much detail about anything though does it?.. That's why we have old and young earth creationists.. That's why you lot can't agree on the basics of your religion, that's why we atheists are so confused about what all the fuss is about.

A book inspired by the creator of the universe should be a bit more informative though? It shouldn't sound like it's been written by pre-schoolers should it??

You are right of course.. The bible is definitely not a science book.. The stories in it were never intended to shape the lives of people in 2018.. So why do some people treat it as a science book and let it shape their lives?
