Of course the earth is flat! It looks flat, so it’s flat. That’s how creationist science works, isn’t it? Just ignore any nuance which makes things more complicated than the immediately obvious.

That's part of the issue: There wasn't a global flood, and you don't need to have been there. We have evidence to prove it, or in this case "lack there of" because various studies from around world do not show flooding on the scale that the bible indicates.

As the OT itself is full of stories from various over localized religions gathered into one, it is more likely the story was taken from something along the lines of "There was a local flood, and people survived in a boat" and then greatly exaggerated to "THERE WAS A FLOOD OVER THE ENTIRE WORLD". Which even then, if you think of what those of the time thought "The world" was, it wasn't the literal entire planet earth, as we of course know now.
