I love Star Wars, especially the first three, the second three, not so much, but still enjoyable

When the first Star Wars came out, it knocked my socks off. I had only recently seen"Close Encounters Of The Third Kind" . The last half hour was just wonderful.--_before those two films there was 'War Of The Worlds '(1953) Forbidden Planet (1956) and' Invasion Of The Body Snatchers.'(1956) As an 11 year old, I also loved "Robby The Robert and the Invisible Boy" (1957) . Australia had strict censorship at that time so we never got to see most horror movies being churned out by Hollywood at the time. Very slim pickings.

Rogue One; pretty good.

The Last Jedi; OK, not wonderful.

Solo: I enjoyed it. I liked the back story.

Was annoyed when I learnt Disney had bought the franchise. I presume future films will be made by Touchstone. Even so, I suspect Disney may follow the old formula of trying to offend as few people as possible, which tends to produce some really boring shit.

PS am also enjoying Star Trek Discovery on Netflix.

Erm , I get confused by the formal numbering system. I meant the first three, in order of release.Yes, loved them. Have seen them  8-9 times each...

I began reading sci fi in my early teens.. One of my favourite early authors was E E Doc Smith, father of the space opera.  I think that is an accurate description of the Star Wars series. It's all pretty simple, old Saturday matinee stuff, in the same vein as Indiana Jones.

Space opera is a subgenre of science fiction that emphasizes space warfare, melodramatic adventure, interplanetary battles, chivalric romance, and risk-taking. Set mainly or entirely in outer space, it usually involves conflict between opponents possessing advanced abilities, futuristic weapons, and other sophisticated technology. The term has no relation to music, but is instead a play on the terms "soap opera" and "horse opera",[1] the latter of which was coined during the 1930s to indicate clichéd and formulaic Western movies. Space operas emerged in the 1930s and continue to be produced in literature, film, comics, television and video games

I read Doc Smith in the later '60s. Lensman and Skylark series. I thought the Skylarks were really weird until I checked the publication date. From that point I "viewed" them like the original Buck Rogers serials.

I saw the first Star Wars...it may be number 4, carry the 12, to the 77th power...I lost track a long time ago when they added prequels, sequels, lateralquels and all that.

I saw it in a theater a few months after it was originally released. I have seen parts of it and the next two (chronologically) cause my kids watched them. I would commit to watching them all but I need a chart to know in which order you are supposed to watch them now.
