I found this great article written by a Bernie supporter who firmly believes that Bernie is going to win the nomination this time. The arguments are pretty persuasive, although I noted that the writer failed to mention anything about Sherrod Brown as a possibly strong antidote to Bernie.

I think it's putting up the most credible and powerful performance he can. But I'm still worried he's too old. Not wanting to invest a vote in a president who has a fairly high statistical chance of dying due to complications of old age isn't really an "-ism," though he's trying to paint it as ageism.

He will need a very, very solid vice president if he were to win the election. His age is indeed one of his biggest weakness.

I agree that we would be taking a really hard look at who he taps for his running mate. I don't think that it would be Warren, because she's another New Englander. Some have suggested Beto. Ideologically, I feel that's a mismatch. Beto is too much the New Dem to step in for Bernie, should something befall him. Kamala Harris might be good. In the past, I have speculated that Robert Reich was the man that he would have asked if he had gotten the nom the last time. That would be such a perfect match, were it not for the fact that he is also an old man.

It's unlikely that a current candidate for the democrat investiture is going to be picked as a VP. I would expect someone who would have remained neutral during that time or droped off very early. Maybe the CEO of Starbuck. He flirted with the idea of the presidency, but declined. Maybe he would be tempted by the vice presidency.

I don't think that there would be any chance at all that Bernie would ask Howard Schultz the billionaire to be his running mate. They are not ideologically compatible. Schultz is a fan of the New Dems and wants them to get back into power.

I agree that there is a really good chance that his pick would not be any of the currently running group, but I don't see any reason that it couldn't or shouldn't be. George H. W. Bush was the early favorite in the 1980 Republican primaries. He was Reagan's toughest opponent. Their fight was pretty contentious. Remember Bush accusing Reagan of voodoo economics?

I don't see any male democrat running with a male VP this election.  Gotta mix up those genders this time.
