self illusion
How does the circuitry in my brain give me that "me" feeling? There must be a "me" feeling for every living thing, right? Why am I this "me" and not some other "me". I don't think you will understand what I am trying to ask, but I figured I'd try anyway, so here goes nothing....

IDK if every living thing has a "me" feeling...but why would all of your "you" apparatus give you some other feeling? They are your eyes, your mouth, your nose, your hands, your brain..after all. It would be more anomalous if you had an "other than you" feeling. Don't you think?

I've been there, actually. Got hit really...really hard. The feeling faded as the damage was repaired. Took awhile.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You are your body.  Anything that happens to your body and in your brain happens to you.  Your sense of self, your self-concept, is largely constructed from such information.

As to why you are only a certain "me," it's because to are discrete from other "me's" and don't share their personal information.  Otherwise, you would think they are you too.

Chimps have a "me" feeling too! So do dogs. Nothing mysterious.
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!
