Looking back at it now, being older and wiser, I hate the Radar character. Not the fact he was kind and gentle, I loved that part. But the bullshit motif that he could feel things coming and "read people's minds".

I used to be a dishwasher at a breakfast place. I hated that the dishes would pile up because the wait staff would bring everything in at the same time. I got tired of waiting, and went out and bused the tables myself. The owner resisted at first, but accepted me doing it, because it made things easier on the wait staff, and it kept me happy because things wouldn't pile up on me.

But, after a while of doing that, the staff would say stupid shit after I cleared a table and say, "You read my mind". Or when I brought them more clean glasses or mugs, same thing. I hated that shit. NO I DID NOT READ YOUR MIND, I simply looked and did.

As lovable as that character was, nobody has magic super powers. 

People who think like that really are falling for selection bias and sample rate error. As well as I did my job, there were also times when I could not get to a table before the wait staff did.

Is that a line Radar said? I do remember how he'd blush when Hawkeye offered him his nudist magazines or when he'd offer to let Radar help the nurses lecture on female medical stuff. Radar was shy with the ladies.

My favorite scene was when Frank's fox hole was filled with water, and the shrink shouted "AIR RAID" and Frank ran out of the swamp and jumped into it.

I didn't like the movie. Maybe because I was too young. MASH, the sitcom I started watching as a teen. The MASH movie was in the 70s when  all I cared about was not getting beat up by the bullies on my street.

I read a story called "Misfortune" when I was twelve. It told of a guy who visited misfortunes on people who hurt him. Inspired me.

Ha ha yeah that's because you're old and cynical. But I remember watching guy on whom Radar was based on saying that he also didn't particularly like that and that he thinks ESP doesn't exist





And also actor that played Radar is some JW and not very lovable.

BTW I see there are fans of MASH here but did anyone ever watch "After MASH" and/ or "Trapper John, M.D."?
