Best of luck, but be prepared for a butting-your-head-against-a-brick-wall sort of dialogue.  Reformed Presbyterians are one of those literalist, sola scriptura groups.  I think you'd have better luck teaching trigonometry to a tea kettle.

I was brainwashed into it while growing-up.  My only real contribution to modern-day skepticism is the fact that the phrase "Last Thursdayism" predates its first recorded occurrence in the RationalWiki:

RationalWiki -- Last Thursdayism

I remember first encountering the term, as a Christian fundamentalist, in the late 1980s while arguing with atheists on the Usenet group alt.atheism.

Then you must surely know your case is a rarity. Usually theists come here to proselytize and confirm their beliefs. This email request is fishy. I thought there was a rule against that, because there is an email on the first post.

It is an open forum, so yeah,

Your beliefs are of neither interest nor value to me.   I don’t care whether you will be, or are capable of being, persuaded by what I find persuasive.    What I am persuaded by doesn’t have to be anthropomorphized because it stands without idiot affirmation of the infantile.

Conservative Christianity needs to be challenged; that's why I am doing it.

The challenge is to stop the conservative Christians from continuing to intellectually debauch and morally corrupt the less well educated and informed to the detriment of the world and humanity in general.    This can only be done by incorporating potential victims into the discussion.   Arguing with those who are already committed conservative Christians already on a one on one basis does not serve that purpose.

In metaphor that conservative Christians can understand, we are here to save souls, not to save the devil.

You think indoctrination is rare? ...ok.

Christians only ever argue for the existence of a first cause and they never explain why that first cause is supposedly intelligent. Unless you include them attacking evolution (as they have no argument for intelligent design now that we know evolution is true, and evolution can explain the world, so they have to attack evolution). And they never say why it should be the specifically Christian God. Unless you include them insisting that there is historical evidence for the resurrection. But evolution is true, there is no historical evidence of Jesus's resurrection at all, and a first cause is just a first cause. They can call it a prime mover all they want ... it doesn't make it anything other than just a first cause.

Nothing in modern physics demands a cause for all phenomena; the spontaneous transition of an electron to a lower or ground state isn't caused by anything; it just happens. Ditto for radioactive decay of an unstable atom into its daughter elements.

No. I'm not in high school. Thought Atheists liked to reason and dialogue. Guess not?

By what do you suppose you’ve gained the credibility to be worth my time to debate?

Your beliefs are of neither interest nor value to me.   I don’t care whether you will be, or are capable of being, persuaded by what I find persuasive.    What I am persuaded by doesn’t have to be anthropomorphized because it stands without idiot affirmation of the infantile.
You have time to hang out on forums, but not enough time to actually engage in meaningful dialogue? Your response is just asserting your superiority, which is an arbitrary opinion that has not been rooted in reason, but it mere opinion. You also engaged in an ad hominem abusive fallacy.

Why would you think that?

*that atheists liked to reason and dialogue

Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Doesn't have to be via email. Just thought it'd be easy to coordinate a time to chat that way. I don't care if its via PM.

Atheists tend to claim to have the monopoly on reason and rationality over against us "religious folk." I thought maybe some of you would like to demonstrate that.
