Why do you need this product of the mind to exist so badly?

Wait one moment. There's not a single concept in your brain that wasn't borrowed from another person? I don't know if that's impressive or unimpressive.

I never claimed merely defining "God" means He exists, but you and your pals need to get your definitions straight in order to argue against the concept of God. Otherwise, all you're doing is strawmanning.

And I'd argue that you're the one who is emotionally invested in the idea of there not being a God.

Yes, I have been taught concepts. But I haven't attached those attributes to another concept that is the product of the human mind. You have, insisting that it exists in reality, even in the light of no concrete evidence.

So fine, defining a god does not mean that it exists as more than a concept. Where is you concrete evidence? It's been woefully lacking.

I'm emotionally invested in believing in reality, not fantasy. You're the one who seems to need the mental crutch. I suspect due to fear, like most, if not all christians.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

That's a relief. Does that mean you're brainwashed, too?

You're going to have to unpack that term for me "concrete evidence." What's the term that you atheists like to use? Oh yeah. Weasel word.

I actually think God is the best explanation for the origin of all contingent beings. And I think atheists are for the most part angry pseudo-intellectuals who have been burnt by religion or life in one way or another.

In any case, who cares? Stop trying to get inside my head and focus on the arguments.

Well, I've enjoyed fantasy concepts, however I don't use it to justify my life or reality.

Nope, look up the definition for brainwashed.

Nope, look up the definition for concrete evidence.

Fine, you're more than welcome to your "best explanation" belief, but I'm not going to validate it in any way, other than you seem to need it.

Again nope, not burnt by religion, simply recognized the indoctrination for what it is/was.

So you want to argue a god into existence? Is there anything else you've ever argued into existence?

Do you believe in Darth Vader? If no, which I'll assume is the case, does that mean you are a pseudo-intellectual who has been burnt by Star Wars in some way?
I don't believe Darth Vader exists, and that fact has no bearing on how I live my life. Sorry, but that's how most atheists treat "God", and of course when you say "God" you don't just mean any general deity, you specifically mean Yahweh/Jehovah, a very specific god.

Actually haven't been following Brokenreflector's thread for a while.

So... He's progressed to the "Show me on the Buddy Jesus doll where the mean diety touched you?" trope?

Good to see the poster is staying true to form.

Not at work.

Will go with later

I think he's more into the group delusion thing. If he didn't have the other sheep for support things might be different. We/he may never know.

No, and there are good reasons for why one shouldn't believe in the existence of Darth Vader.

But if there were good reasons to believe in the existence of Darth Vader and a person didn't believe in him, then I'd think there's something emotional going on. For example, maybe the person is angry at Darth Vader for force choking their dog and their disbelief in him is a futile attempt at wishing him out of existence--or the metaphorical equivalent of putting their fingers in their ears and going, "la-la-la-la-la-la-la."

Making matters worse, these avaderists are always trying to give the impression that they know everything about Star Wars when in reality they know little to nothing. In most cases, avaderists haven't even watched the movies. Their "research" is limited to skimming Kylo Ren and Rey fan fiction on wattpad.com and fanfiction.net that goes so far as to not even hint at the existence of Lord Vader. Why are you guys so obsessed with Kylo Ren and Rey being a thing anyways? Rey is clearly a lesbian.

Quote:Sorry, but that's how most atheists  treat "God", and of course when you say "God" you don't just mean any general deity, you specifically mean Yahweh/Jehovah, a very specific god.

It's not that simple. Many atheists constantly whine about religion, theists, and so-called indoctrination without providing any good reasons for why they're atheist in the first place. It's all very desperate and angry. That's the impression I get anyways.
