Would you be open to _________

Thumbs Up
Would you be open to _________
We put one of our cars on Craigslist for sale.

A 22 year old car with almost 200k miles. It does have a new engine - is in reasonable shape and everything works except the air conditioning. As it doesnt get driven in the summer - it wasn't an issue.
Asking price $1500. Cheap for good dependable transportation. The SO is currently doing 45 minute commute with it.

Dink calls up and asks a bunch of dumbass questions - does it have aftermarket wheels - what color is the interior,  is the carpet torn at all... Dumb shit. Nothing to do with the drivetrain or other important stuff.

We get to the A/C ... I tell him it does not work and am unsure why. I never looked into it.

He says he will have to pass.

15 minutes later - he calls back and asks - Would I be open to fixing the A/C before I sell him the car?

Arrgghh

I dunno... Would you be open to going and fucking yourself? [Slam phone]

Where the fuck do these cornhole morons come from?

I take it you’re not a big fan of the negotiating process, then? Wink

I agree, guy was kind of a dick. If he wanted the AC fixed, what he should have done was offer to pay you a higher price for fixing it.

I once declined a sale because the customer - after getting exactly the guitar he ordered - decided that he just HAD to have myrtle wood appliqué along the sides. For the same price.

Would you be willing to fix the AC if someone paid you to do so, over and above the current asking price?

We got new appliances in December. I listed the fridge and range for sale. The dishwasher wasn't worth anything and the microwave didn't survive removal intact. I clearly stated that there was a leak in the water line to the ice maker and water dispenser. We hadn't used either in a long time but I am sure it could have been fixed by someone so inclined.

Had several people ask if the ice maker/water dispenser worked or if we would be willing to fix it. If it had mattered to us enough to fix it, we would have.

Sold it to a guy whose garage beer fridge had given up the ghost. I reminded him about the water line leak and he was fine with that.

Some people don't read all the words or they read what they want it to say. We just wanted the damn thing out of here. It was a bonus to make a few bucks and not have to deal with disposal of an appliance.

Some people need to have the words 'AS IS' branded on their frontal lobes.

You're looking to sell junk, and calling the other asshole and asshole for being discriminating about the junk he buys.

If he was discriminating he wouldn't be shopping there.
