Hilarious isn't the word.  It is actually very scary.  This is the reality of the evangelicals.  They believe that God fights for them, and if their political enemies win, that it is literally an attack on God himself.

Those who are willing to believe in bullshit are easily manipulated by more bullshit.

It would be more funny if it wasn't so, er, frightening that these nuts actually exist and feel it it's acceptable to be so nuts and have such reach and influence.

Thinking on, it does have, at least in some (all too reserved and civilised) quarters the effect of ROFLY fuck religion galvanisation. On balance? Surely a good thing and bad press for the nutjobs - share share share!

This is why their tax exempt status needs to be reviewed. They want to be players in the political arena, but they don't want to pay the entrance fees. If you want to preach politics from the pulpit, you need to lose that tax exempt status and start paying your fair share. Don't want to pay? Don't fucking play.

Of course, our spinless corporate owned overlords elected officials will never consider it.

When DON’T evangelicals freak out? Freaking out seems to be their baseline.

Here in Canada, it was the right wing that imposed heavy restrictions on what churches (and all charities) could say in the political arena, because they saw religion and charities as left-wing.

Basically, no religious leader could advocate for a political party from the pulpit, or the church could instantly lose status.  Even mentioning the name of a political leader or party or party policy in a negative or positive light could lose status.  Absolutely zero activity or publication of a church could be considered partisan, or they lose status.

My liberal church has one of their stated values as "social justice", a phrase they have used for many decades, not something that was invented in the SJW social media era.  This was considered by conservative government auditors as partisan, and had to be removed as a value of the church, or it would lose status.

Churches are allowed to use 10% of their money and activity on projects that have political overtones, but are explicitly non-partisan.  For instance, a church may fund non-partisan research on climate change, or poverty, provided it never mentions any bills before government, or criticizes or advocates-for any government, politician's or party policies.

The Liberal government reversed enforcement on these, but they are still on the books.

In a sense, the restrictions make sense.  However, as someone who was on a church board under such gag laws, I can say that they felt overly restrictive.

If pastors confine their messages to those contained within their religious doctrines, politics wouldn't come up often.  What we see in this video are political advocates posing as pastors.  Forget the peace and love crap.  That's how you make it big in religion.

Actually that's not true.  Religion is inherently political.  Jesus was an extremely political figure.

Any value or idea can be considered political.  Want to help the poor?  That's political.  Think that God is going to destroy the world soon, so why worry about the environment?  That's political.  Believe in certain religious values?  That's political.  Black ministers leading the civil rights movement?  That's very political.

I agree that charities shouldn't be partisan, or directly lobby the government.  But it is impossible for a charity of any type to not be political.

Every statement is a political statement, in someone's mind.

In practice, yes.  In theory, no.  The message of Jesus was peace and love.  The story of Jesus was political.  Thus, "how you make it big."

It is humorous and troubling to a degree.... but what is more troubling is the Leftist media!

They, and "big tech" control our lives more than any store bought TV evangelist ever will.

For instance: Google or YouTube; "Liberal Media Bias"

...all you will find is "Right Wing Bias" video and pieces! Not ONE example of Left wing media ANYTHING!

While you were hating the Christians the pagan news media took your first amendment from you/us.
