Material wise - if you used 11 gauge (easy thickness for welding) you would still have close to $1200 into building one.

It would probably take me 4 days to build a really nice one......

I was thinking that they(?) had to fly the thing there, which isn't so cheap. Maybe they're building them in-country.

All it would take is a TIG or MIG welder and a side grinder with cutoff and polishing wheels.

And a fair bit of talent.


Not to brag - but I could do it. 

I am guessing the pop rivets they found is to make it easier to transport.

I would go for 100% welded seams.
