Material wise - if you used 11 gauge (easy thickness for welding) you would still have close to $1200 into building one.
It would probably take me 4 days to build a really nice one......

I was thinking that they(?) had to fly the thing there, which isn't so cheap. Maybe they're building them in-country.

I suspect fake news. The pictures are photo shopped and the "monolith" is really only a foot tall.
