Ha, the fussy girls weren't off praying, that's just what they told you. They were in our barracks.

And in addition to plans to invoke the 25th Amendment against Trump, several new articles of impeachment have been drafted against Trump.

This is either a belt and suspenders approach at removing Trump from office or a sign of Democratic infighting that could derail the whole process. I hope to hell it’s the former. Though given how the last impeachment went, I’m not sure if it’ll work this time, that and it’ll almost certainly largely be symbolic since there’ll be no time for a senate trial.

While it’s true that he can be impeached at some point in the future, that won’t be enough to bar him from holding office again. It would take a Senate conviction to do that, which won’t be in place for a minimum of two years (probably much longer).

It looks like it’s a bit more complicated than that, Boru. While officially convicting Trump would require a supermajority, and that may not be likely, it turns out there’s a separate procedure for disqualifying him from office and there is indeed precedent for a simple majority. And, even assuming the votes all fall on party lines like last time, it turns out that, with the recent election of two Dems from Georgia to the Senate, and the two independents who caucus with the Democratic Party, there would be a tie. And with VP Kamala Harris acting as tiebreaker in the senate, such a majority is more or less there. And if some Republicans break the old party line after this shit, a majority is all but guaranteed.
