Land most certianly IS ascribed to one group or individual families or entire nations or religions, and people unfortunately fight over that. I won't disupute human tribalism. I will argue that our species tribalism in cosmic time is bullshit.

Maybe I should have added that, in contrast to the famous Hatfield-McCoy feud lasting for 28 years, the Arab-Israeli feud has been going on for a minimum of 73. That kinda gives you some perspective of how intractable this whole thing is.
