Except when Jesus was not merciful, like when he said how he'll torture people forever. Or in Mark 7:10 when he said people should go back to Mosaic law of killing their own children.

Show me the verse in Mosaic law that states how only sinless people can stone other people.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

No wonder you didn't post a direct Bible verse to prove your claims because there isn't one. There is nothing in your article that says that sinless people are the ones to throw stone but "Those witnesses “must be the first in putting that person to death, and then the hands of all the people” (verse 7). In other words, those who testified against the condemned person in court had to cast the first stone."

That was the technicality our trickster hero saved the damsel by. Sure, sure, you could stone a bitch, have at it boys - but seeing as how the arresting officers aren't here to carry out the execution, I move for dismissal in the case of tis particular bitch.

Now go and whore no more! Jesus is a kindler gentler sort of pimp, and I suppose that's worth something.

i'm sorry you do not understand the implications the verses provided nor are able to honestly derive the same points i do. i provided you with this link because it gave all the passages concerning stoning. and speaks directly to the passage in question in john. if you honestly read those passages you would have come to the same conclusions the rest of us do. but it seems dishonestly and doubt seem to be the things you are looking for.

AS That link specifically address the passage being discussed and provides the reason jesus asked for the one who was without sin. the link says the person accusing someone of a capital sin must be identify as the lead or primary witness, and it was law that the accuser/witness cast the first stone. why do they do this? because he must held to account for his testimony. meaning he will be scrutinized, and if he is found lying, he too will be stoned. Now go back to john 8 and couple that with Jesus spelling out all the sins on the ground causing the pharisees to leave oldest first to the youngest proves my point that the people casting stones had to be in good standing with god. this is why these people left. they were not in good standing with God that their sins would have demanded their deaths as well.

The only way one can argue this is if you are trying to sew doubt and dishonesty, as this is the traditional reading of this passage. nothing here refutes that the men casting stones had to be in good standing with God. Jesus himself in the john 8 passage takes it a step further and demands not only does one need to be in good standing one must be without sin. read the passage sport. it tells you this in such a way that it can not be denied unless you outright LIE about what is on page.

the law demands accountability on both sides of the stoning.

in that the purpose of stoning is to punish a breaker of what was a mortal law. and it was to ensure the person making the accusation was also to be scrutinized and be in good standing with god. if a mortal law was not broken or if the words of the accusers can not be trusted the the stoning was not to take place.

why do you lement the checks and balances in the law designed to keep evil people from manipulating the law to their own ends?

JEsus identified the accusers as being fraught with sin themselves and had no business judging this woman. let alone murdering her for their own purposes..

No, it's you who is bullshitting and lying all the time, and then accusing others of doing what you are doing.

again you seem too dishonest or stupid to see christ in the story provided by john 8, answering your question for you. again no one disputes the meaning of this story and why the pharisees left (because they themselves were unworthy due to their own sin) which answers your query of where does the bible say the people throwing stones must be in good standing with God. HERE IN JOHN 8 moron!!! I even posted a whole sermon from a well respected 3rd party that directly answers your question in the same way I did!!! they even took it a step further and said the people throwing stones not only had to be in good standing, but WITHOUT SIN completely!!!

again you are nothing more than a troll that is desperately trying to make a show for other trolls. to everyone else you are a dishonest at best, with little to no integrity or honor. the lesson is yours sport, this is me knocking the dust from my feet.

The whole "cast the first stone" story is (apart from an attempt to show that Jesus is more clever than the pharisees) is for Jesus to make the claim to both be the only one good enough to condemn sins, but also the only one good enough to forgive sins.

The story is not specifically about adultery or stone throwing.  The story is about Jesus.

Ah, typical Drich: paints himself into a corner and then blames others for his stupidity.
