I think you SHOULD get a harsher sentence if in a position of public trust.
It’s the point you we’re making, so how is it not the point? I agree that it’s unjust that black people get harsher sentences than white people, but I was addressing you ‘public trust’ comment.

I think that is extremely relevant considering the lopsided history of law enforcement in American history.

Do I have to create an official thread where the two of you can verbally spar?

You don’t think the law should apply equally to everyone, then?

I think the law should default to empathy of those with less, and punish those with the power when those with power abuse it.

How is it a bad comparison to know currently if a black person gets accused and or convicted for something comparable the black person is far more likely to be charged and fined more harshly? That isn't up for debate. That is fact.
Apples and oranges. A black civilian did not kill a black person, a black civilian did not kill a different race person.....
If anything, you need to start the comparison with 'if a black police officer killed..........
Get it?

A good way to test critical thinking is with a hypothetical, so let’s try that.
Suppose the actors in this case were reversed - George Floyd is a black cop with years of experience who deliberately and callously choked a white suspect - Derek Chauvin - to death. Floyd, after a long trial with intense media coverage, is sentenced to 22 1/2 years in prison. All the other facts if the case remain the same. Now:
Would you say Floyd should have gotten the maximum sentence of 40 years for abusing the public trust, or should he have gotten a lesser sentence because of the unarguable injustice of law enforcement?
Please remember that this is a hypothetical and must be answered as asked - you aren’t permitted to add provisos of your own.

Bret Weinstein censored on youtube over Covid talk. This is why people were idiots to cheer on the banning of Alex Jones. Now we are all Alex Jones and everyone is an extremist.
Bret Weinstein censored on youtube and Richard Dawkins losing awards. I guess biologists are the new evil villains of society.
