Sorry, I'm useless when it comes to car talk.

Lol! *jazz hands* I'll post a pic here eventually. Just got to get rid of quarantine gut.

In my youth, I used to patronize a speed shop called "Service Center", located at the corner of Victory and Sepulveda Blvds in Van Nuys, CA. It was famous for speed parts, but is long gone. There was a pinstriping shop owned by a guy, last name of Moss, in that same shopping center. He was one picky SOB, and if he didn't like what he did on your car, he'd do it over or wipe the paint off and tell you that he was sorry and send you on your way...or just leave it on and tell you it was free. You remind me of that guy. If your dad likes it and the customer likes it, run with the money. There is no accounting for taste, and you aren't going to bankrupt that customer, given what they are paying for the rest of that work. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Oh geez, I just involuntarily shivered. I don't think I've ever undid a work like that. I am more of a, "I am not entirely happy with it....but I did my best and that's what you get" kinda guy. Like I said, I understand that my perception might be warped from sitting too close to it and working intimately on it for several hours. The feeling usually fades by the end of a project. Besides, I also understand that if my dad wanted perfect, he could have taken it in professional. He wants this painterly interpretation.

I thank you guys for the reassurance. It certainly helps me feel better about it all.

I'm not sure. I don't know cars, so, I'll have to ask him.

Ford called it a "Coupe Utility".

Many states register them as station wagons - as they are based off the wagon platform.

Here's another idea for car art

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

So, I forgot to take pictures when I went over to my dad's to paint on Friday, so, I didn't post much about it. Not much progress was made.

I went in with white highlights first, putting the base of the eyes down and the mouth. Then I came back in with the steady hand and making the black outlines. It definitely made her pop and I'm happy about that. But then looking at her face, I realized the eyes were too high and the lips were too low. It looked like a cheap, disturbing knock-off you'd see on the wall at a children's dentist office.

But as I stepped back and realized I'd need to redo the face by painting skin tones over it, I also realized that her skin was really pink. Like vibrantly so. It doesn't show in photos so much but there wasn't enough contrast between her skin and her hair with those red tones. So, as this dawned on me, I thought it was a good opportunity to remix the skin to be a lighter shade to pop and stand out from her hair.

While I waited for that to dry, I got the base stencil colors for Jane Porter done and then I was just sorta done for the night. I'm going back on Tuesday to finish the face and Porter on the other side. Then it'll be time to work on the planes. My dad stopped by today so I was able to run out and snap a quick picture of Jetson. I didn't take one of Jane Porter, simply because she doesn't look like much right now.

As I expected, you are your own harshest critic.  The white and black really sets off what you have done.  Can't wait to see the finished product.
