My Catholic upbringing was filled with joy and good times, and if I'm being honest, my education was less important to me than hanging out with my friends, but I still enjoyed receiving an education. I would have to say, that because my education was rendered at such a joyful time in my life, my education left a strong impression on me. I have since left Catholicism, but still love the Church.

This topic is one of the key reasons why many people are skeptical of Christianity. There are a maddening number of versions of it, and this adds to the confusion and doubt. When someone tells you that they have figured out the truth about Jesus, it is just one version of thousands, which is a problem. How can any Christian blame skeptics for not embracing Christianity when the world's Christians can't even agree on precisely who Jesus is, what he wants people to do, how are people supposed to worship him, and how people get to heaven?

Jeezy chreezy had to be a virgins boy, but also josephs boy, to satisfy criteria for the prophesied davidic messiah. Then, ofc, there's the whole bit about the angel showing up and telling mary she was preggers with Christ. Josephs lineage provides claim to the throne, mary's establishes his purebred credentials. Tribe of judah, direct descendant of abraham isaac and jacob, boaz...david..all the way back to adam, as it goes.

Islam contends, btw, that christians got it all wrong - that they got all of magic book wrong, new and old. It's corrupted..you see, islam fixed it. If w could find The Originals™'s we would see that islamic magic book was right and jewish magic book, and christian magic book..were wrong.

It's actually a really interesting part of the development of abrahamic faith. Originally, gods people and other people weren't the same people - it was an issue of blood - but christians knew they weren't jewish and the ring of enfranchised personhood came to be larger than just the scattered remnants of some ancient family. Similarly, the muslims knew they weren't jewish or christian - the myths surrounding their purportedly shared god needing further revision to fit their ideology. Each group borrowing a ladder, repainting it, then loudly claiming against all evidence and reason that the ladder was never anyone else's to begin with and/also/or that every previous owner laddered wrong.

Oddly enough, we don't think any of the three groups were mighty when they laid down their ghost stories. They were marginalized, so it's more like telling aspirational tales about their future or desired might, premised on their newly empowered gods.

At any rate, is might making right something that you think is true, something that you think gods think is true...?

There's nothing unique or special about either the Jesus character or the Mary character. Religious history is rife with Christlike and Maryesque characters.

I genuinely believe in the "might makes right" axiom. I would consider myself a very strong person, and I believe my strength entitles me to be righteously indignant towards whatever challenges me. I have earned the right to be right, so to speak.
