Is love real?

Aaaanywho, going back through the thread. I think that the painful kind of love mentioned in the op is real, ofc - but I probably wouldn't call it healthy or productive. I guess a person could be more or less quick to love that way, if at all. I think we probably wonder more whether such emotion or ideation is well founded in reality, rather than whether they do or don't exist. As an expression of compelling desire, it writes itself. That it would hurt to be without this, and that it can even hurt to be in it's presence. On the one hand a person may be apprehending the value of a thing, and on the other, their relative inadequacy for the same.

And I also think this conversation is over.

No way, you can crank up the deepak chopra generator and he'll engage with it.

I guess that depends on what you mean by "engage".

It's common in many mental health disorders. Consider it a type of self preservation. He enjoys the fantasy more than most of the negative consequences. Once he encounters a consequence that causes enough harm then he'll attempt correction. But it typically only lasts until he feels no longer in danger of further harm.

But I still wonder to this day whether love isn't more myth than reality, at least the feeling of it.

Which leads me to wonder, is love real?

I never want to feel that type of "love" again.  It is incredibly painful if it is unrequited.  It is also a form of insanity, even if everything works out.

It must be some sort of sadistic obsession.  Keeps posting and baiting as if he has something meaningful to discuss, but as you said gets scared and runs off.

I think he has schizotypal traits.

If you could explain this in further detail, I might consider going to therapy. I would want something to actually discuss with the therapist, not just random bullshit. And no, discussing my online posting habits doesn't count.

You want me to explain why you can't face your own triggers?  Hah, hilarious.  This isn't much different from anti-vaxxers; just avoid the most likely avenues for help.
