Then take us to the mountain.

But at this time your mountain appears to be a mountain of belief only which places you on the same level as a theist. That makes all your preaching up to this point irrelevant, except that it strokes you ego.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Since the only thing all atheists have in common is one opinion on one topic, we don't have much basis on which to organize, police who represents us, or conduct consistent marketing. If it was up to me, you'd have to pass a test before you could call yourself an atheist, but I'm not the pope of atheism and neither is anyone else.

As long as you're not focusing on line 3 & 4 of my OP,  you're dodging.

I confess I didn't read much of this thread. Is the general gist that theists are delusional and irrational and that atheists should study and research the best logical rebuttals to counter this pervasive petulance?

If that's spot on the money, and from the last few pages it seems to be, Why you you want to hone rational and logical arguments against theists which are assumed to be completely irrational and delusional? Fighting irrational beliefs with the purist of logical discourse seems like ... to use a phrase... casting pearls to swine?

You got the first part right, but not the second. Theists are delusional, and logical argumentation isn't the tool to deal with that. That requires therapy and legal constructs designed to constrain and punish the delusional.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Lots of people are delusional GN, not just theists. Clinically though I would say it's rare. I'm all for locking up delusional people, if it can be quantified and equally applied to the populous. Tongue

There’s not enough prisons and hospitals to lock up all the delusional people. I know this because my puca told me so.

Sheldon, nice to finally meet you. Hope life is treating you well.

Even though I'm not a religious person, I do support a person's right to believe in the religion of their own choosing.
As irrational as those beliefs may be, I don't want to take away that personal freedom that allows people their own individual thought process. I don't want to be some kind of thought police.

This is why it's good to have a conversation with people to question why they believe some of the things they believe and hopefully get them to justify that belief.

When you can communicate with people, it's good for everyone involved.

Sheldon appears to believe that theism and religiosity are interchangeable with delusion.  I was merely correcting a misunderstanding you had with his position.  Sure, theists..delusional, yada yada yada - but logic isn't the tool for the job and logical arguments...here....somehow show that atheists are "corrupt"...whatever the fuck that means.

He's a nut...probably ought to be some code we can lock him up for treatment with.

Agree with that lot's of people are delusional. Disagree with locking them up unless the delusion has a significant risk for harm to self or others.
