That’s another good reason to hasten the move away from fossil fuels. You never see a report about wind turbines failing and people rushing out to clean air off of affected wildlife or workers at a solar power station trying to contain spilled sunshine.

Long ago, years ago, even before I moved down to NC in 2005 I ran into a oil/gas accident spill wiki article that spanned decades. both land and sea. I cannot find it now, and lets face it, big oil, like big tobacco are not going to tell the truth. The article listed the number of accidents of ships and pipes over the years.

Coastal towns have been committing seppuku on the issue of oil pollution.

Let's take my beloved gulf coast as an example. Say we completely transition off of fossil fuels and the future beats on mostly as before otherwise. Will that recoup the financial loss from our disastrous flirtation with offshore rigs? No it will not. The damage is done, the shelves and estuaries are permanently damaged. The loss of revenue is exponentially multiplicative and generational. It's not physically possible to restore tampa bay. We've tried. I can never take my kids out into the murder holes for fun or dinner, there's no point walking a net through the rip. The dolphin boats have to work harder..a plexi wall built to view one of the most important the estuaries in the entire world...underwater... now stares at a shifting sand bottom full of sludge from the nearby cruise port. To the point they boarded it up last I was there and it wouldn't surprise me if they've just demo'd it since.

No idea why anyone would want to stop there anymore...but then it dawns on you. People get on cruise ships in the bay to -leave-...to go someplace with something worth seeing.

-and then, they became plague ships.......

Here’s a list of oil spills going back to 1903. Is that the one you mean?

Ohh.. please spill some sunshine in this direction!

I think California needs a boatload of rain right now. California is on broil setting. But the east coast, holy crap, we are getting flash flood warnings faster than a humming bird.

The salmon were recently cooking in the streams. Someone definitely needs to crank the temp down a few degrees. Salmon is expensive.

There's actually a really intricate proposal about normalizing the qualifiers between east and west coast through infrastructure. What do you think, should we look to solve the east costs problems by exploiting their vulnerabilities as solutions to the west coasts problems, and vv?

Why haven't you found Jimmy Hoffa yet? I know who framed Roger Rabbit. I know it was the butler in the library with the candle stick. My silly way of saying thanks for finding it. Yes.

This spill reminds me of the famous Exxon Valdez event in 1989. Not ship vs pipe, but amount of damage.

This one won’t come close to the damage of the Exxon Valdez spill.

Yes certainly smaller ,but still damage none the less. It isn't just going to affect sea life and birds, but businesses too. Since nobody can go on the beach or swim or surf all those beach businesses are going to suffer. Cleanup, according to HLN is only about 3%. It is going to take a while. Pipe inspectors suspect a boat anchor gashed the line.
