No weapon is more ‘deadly’ than another. The deadliness of any weapon is situational.

Absolutely. I' m glad you understand.

This is what makes high capacity magazine bans ludicrous.

How deadly ANY weapon is determined by only one factor - the skill of the user.

And yeah - I get sarcasm

I speak it fluently.

Actually, the deadliness of a weapon is determined by more than the skill of the user. This is why a slingshot expert is less deadly than a moderately proficient rifleman on an elephant hunt.

To return to our muttons, though, it seems pretty clear that guns cause more deaths than bows and arrows, if only because guns are more prevalent.

Now to ask yourself the question. Why are guns more prevalent? (because they are a better weapon)

No, because one can become reasonably proficient with firearms in a relatively short period of time. Something like a longbow or a sword requires considerably more practice.

Let’s do a hypothetical. Someone is stalking me with a pistol. I manage to sneak up behind him and brain him with a rock. In this situation, the rock is - by the only metric that means anything - the ‘better’ weapon. On the other hand, if we’re facing each other and standing 10m apart, his gun is going to turn out to be a better weapon than my rock.

To your first point, I already agreed a gun is much easier to use, And I already pointed out in an earlier post why a gun is an overall better weapon which pretty much addresses this point.

A gun is an overall better weapon is those situations that call for a gun.

In every metric, a gun is a more versatile weapon and is the best in the most situations.
