The girl's condition neither falls under an existing medical condition that is immediately life-threatening nor is a medical condition that would result in impairment. At least no more so than a million other factors (like being above 35 or African American ) would fall under.

By all standards of pediatric medicine, her risk is higher, and I would be amazed if any expert would claim otherwise!

Well in the article I linked two medical experts have claimed otherwise. They make no such distinction.
