Quote:Ukraine is not in NATO. They are in Russia's sphere of influence, and that sucks, but thems the rules. I didn't say we should never intervene. We have treaties and NATO for a reason.
Whether they are in Nato or not they are still an ally, They are not in Russia's sphere of influence if they don't want to be. So these rules that exist nowhere but in your head are horseshit. And treatise or not we can and should defend Ukraine and stop them from making stupid decisions. This is a stupid statement....

Publicly admitting to the looming Russian assault on Ukrainian soil would have led to a mass exodus, as per the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelesnky
That refutes absolutely nothing I said about Putin's being untrustworthy and a liar.....

It's probably "just smart" to resist an invasion of your country if you can.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Yeah just like it's totally in his interest to fake peace and then reinvade...That would also be "just smart"
Note that this response doesn't refute the point that he is untrustworthy and is willing to lie to achieve his ends .....

And if you're a weak country bordering on a superpower, you might just have to compromise from time to time and you won't be able to get all you want.

Nope, Ukraine is a sovereign state that shouldn't have to be bullied by Russia or have to cater to them. Despite your Social Darwinist theory of international affairs.

Dictators are untrustworthy. News flash. CNN breaking news. The more you know meme, etc, etc. Such deep insight there. I think we are all aware that dictators are untrustworthy, Helios. "Dictators are bad" is a very shallow argument and I don't think the obvious needs to be pointed out time and time again. Let's get past that. Dictators bad. Yes. We're all on the same page in that regard.
