Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
Quote:The contents of these articles may or may not be true. No one posting on this thread really knows.

We do know that the first two sources cited are funded and operated by the US government and have always pushed the official government line. These are not objective, independent sources. If a source is funded and operated by Russia, we should be equally wary of that.

The Times is owned by Rupert Murdoch, was strongly Thatcherite, and is well-known for pushing dubious ideological narratives, including the idea that HIV doesn't lead to AIDS. It is a source to be skeptical about.

Haaretz is actually more sympathetic to an oppressed people (the Palestinians) than the New York Times. I do not know their history concerning Russia. Historically, Israeli media has strong opinions on Russia.

So, again, we don't know whether these stories are accurate or not. We do know that as skeptical people who are wary of propaganda and think for ourselves, these are sources to be very wary of.
Lol the guy who has literally been posting stuff from people linked to Russia and repeating Russian talking points  is giving me a lecture on sourcing  Hilarious

And note you don't actually provide any real objections just "it might be fake news" you sound like a Trumpists  Hehe

Haiti is in imminent danger of being invaded by foreign troops intent on shoring up an unpopular puppet government.

Which country should supply the arms to help Haitians overcome years of oppression?

Okay... sorry for being late to the thread...

So, I've read this through a few times.

I'm not seeing how it relates to or matches up with the issue of either country in regards to Russia or Ukraine.

More information please?   Great

1. This thread is about Ukraine if you want to start one about Haiti do so

2. This isn't an invasion as the legitimate government of Haiti has asked for aid in opposing criminal gangs and as not great as the current government is the gangs under Jimmy Chérizier are infinitely worst. It's a matter of the lesser of two evils. Though I do believe the current head of the Haitian government should be pressured into stepping down when the crisis is over. As he has proven he's unfit to lead.

The only way they are remotely relevant is that in both cases the legitimate government has asked for aid from the international community. The difference is one is to defend a country from an invasion the other is to stop a group of criminals from taking over a country.

People seem to think that it's bad for a big country to invade and control a smaller one.

We'd want to be sure that we don't have a double standard involved, where it's OK for our team but not for theirs.
