Five people were killed and eighteen wounded in a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Colorado Springs last night, according to police.

Yup, I've decided to make a new variation on America: The Drinking Game. Normally, every time an According to Hoyle mass murder (4+ dead) takes place, you take a shot. Now, every time one takes  place in a gay bar, take a Cosmo.








On a more serious note, apparently, the shooter is the grandson of a long-time California Republican politician who was off the grid enough to compare January 6th to the Battles of Lexington and Concord and the man himself was apparently the sort of person who sends a bomb threat to his mother, and when the cops came for him, started a four-hour standoff so severe that the neighbours had to be evacuated. This somehow didn't result in any charges.

The shooting occurred during a drag show at the club, and the shooter was disarmed and restrained by two patrons - they did what 376 Uvalde cops were unable to do.

By Republican logic, the US should now put two drag queens in every school in America.

Of course, there is currently a potential law being presented here in TX that will make drag shows fall under the category of sexually oriented entertainment and fall under the rules that cover businesses like strip clubs.

It gets pretty problematic since this piece of legislature also would mean that a girl can't play the lead in 'Peter Pan' or portray character in any play/movie where there is dressing and presenting themselves as anything other than the sex they were assigned at birth.

Well, this is the perfect image of toxic masculinity: a former MMA fighter and porn star who praised his son for being violent, even as he's evidently developed pretty deep CTE.

When he hears that his son was at a gay bar, he's actually relieved that he was only there to shoot a bunch of people. He gets on his high horse about how Mormonism doesn't like gay people, but sees zero issue about doing porn or getting into meth (and the church doesn't even look kindly on drinking coffee or tea.)

Now the Reich Wing is giggling that the shooter was possibly Non-Binary as if that makes the shooter, not Right Wing as if that makes them not a homophobe, and as if that doesn't mean their actions were not inspired by Right Wing hate. They also have been making a big deal about the idea you can reject a person's claim they are Trans and still believe trans identities are valid. Calling it hypocritical (which it's not)
