Proof?
What kind of proof are you looking for?
Did you read the whole post properly?
What is the proof that if I put my faith in a mythological character, I will be saved? I can very well put my faith on Santa Claus to bring me gifts for Christmas...
And what is your proof that everyone is a sinner? On what grounds do you base your statement on? And I need facts, not quotes from a fairy tale book.

Quote:I wonder why atheists are so anti-Christian?
I'm not anti-christian, I respect everybody's beliefs until they start offending me, or they invade on my given rights.
Quote:I mean, really, if you believe God doesn’t exist, then why trouble yourselves with what Christians believe?
We don't, you all decide to trouble us with what you believe. What do you want us to do, roll over and sit there while you try to run the world off of a faulty Theocracy? Religious beliefs have no say in ANYTHING, it's just a belief. If we just kept our beliefs to our self, everything would be fine. Religious beliefs do not define our morals as a set and fixed variable.
Quote:I notice no one complains about Islam, Hinduism or Buddhism, and no one complains much about cults, just Christianity.
Well that's just a hasty generalization, saying that Atheists complain only about Christianity.
Christianity is one of the most vocal religions out there today, that nonetheless plays a role in government and contemporary society. From this, same sex marriage is not accepted by many states. Another viable reason for this, is that Christianity is the largest religious group, and with this comes many news reports from media outlets regarding Christianity. For example: Westboro Baptist Church.
Quote:And if, to you, the evil in the world proves there is no God, how do you explain all the good?
Evil and good do not represent that god does, or does not exist. The universe is constantly experiencing entropy.
Quote:Just some questions; just trying to keep it "real".
Is that supposed to be a pun?
Religion is like a Penis, you shouldn't whip it out in public and you shouldn't shove it down your child's throat.

Because there seems to be an order in it resulting from underlying physical laws that operate consistently.
Things aren't always as they seem, and things that seem like something to you might seem to be something different to another person. He asked how you know the universe is the product of intelligent design. That means he wants you to provide evidence. I see that you, of course, have no evidence. I'm buckled over with shock.
Quote:So, you’re opposed to Christianity. What harm have you ever experienced as a result of the existence of Christianity in this world?
Some people are not so self-obsessed that they would be opposed to xtianity merely on the grounds that it has harmed them personally.

Quote:You’ve got a point there: One does not go to hell for simply not knowing about Christ. One goes to hell for knowing about Christ and then rejecting Him.
What if you know about Jesus, but were raised Hindu, and believe Hinduism to be the one true religion? Would god send every Hindu to hell for simply believing what they were taught was true? If so, what merit does god find in a person who was born to xtian parents, and is only a xtian because that is what he was taught to believe is true? Are the Hindus supposed give up the beliefs that they and their ancestors have since around 1700 BCE? Why should they for a piddly little belief system that has only been around for a couple thousand years, and that has been the crux of so much death and destruction in this world?
Explain.

I dont' feel bad for him. I neither hurled insults toward him nor offered any rude suggestions toward him or anything thing like that. Still ignored my posts directed precisely at him.
I suppose he just wanted to be crass with people as opposed to an actual discussion.
If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach in the public schools, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools and next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church. At the next session you may ban books and the newspapers...
Ignorance and fanaticism are ever busy and need feeding. Always feeding and gloating for more. Today it is the public school teachers; tomorrow the private. The next day the preachers and the lecturers, the magazines, the books, the newspapers. After a while, Your Honor, it is the setting of man against man and creed against creed until with flying banners and beating drums we are marching backward to the glorious ages of the sixteenth centry when bigots lighted fagots to burn the men who dared to bring any intelligence and enlightenment and culture to the human mind. ~Clarence Darrow, at the Scopes Monkey Trial, 1925
Politics is supposed to be the second-oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first. ~Ronald Reagan

It's just selective debating, all religious fanatics do it, they only address parts of the debate they can whip up a witty comeback to and then turn a blind eye to anything that challenges their faith in any way shape or form pretending they didn't even see it; choosing to be blind to it rather than swallow their pride and admit that you just might have a point.

Exactly. Though I would add that I am sick of the hatred and intolerance spread by Christianity, based on nothing but fairy tales from ancient scripture that has no relevance. I detest the controlling mindset of it, and the oppressive, and idiotic morals it spreads and enforces.
But don't just say that I am against Christianity. I am against all religions.
Also, my ancestors were captured and enslaved by Christians, but I'd rather keep things to within my lifetime.
"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."
