You guys can't stop talking about the pope that croaked - admit that you miss him.
But I do admit that the old Bananadick was much more fun to ridicule back in the days (of yore). And maybe that's why he retired.

His family was fairly well hounded by the Nazi regime (they murdered one of his cousins who had Down’s Syndrome). He was conscripted into the Hitler Youth at 14, but refused to attend meetings. He trained as an infantryman, but deserted his post rather than shoot Allied troops. Did a few months as a POW, but was released when the war ended.
Though technically a Nazi, he seems to have been pretty unenthusiastic about it.
