My views on God and religion

RE: My views on God and religion
God is a holy fool. Like St. Francis of Assisi who talked to the birds, in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, he talked to his table.

RE: My views on God and religion
You know, I like to think this: People believe that God exists believe they are living a happy life under the guidance and protection of a supreme being that is God, but in reality, they are living in a metaphorical simulation, kind of like in the movie, The Matrix. The life they think they are living is not real. Plus, there is good and bad in all of us, with the bad being what people who believe in god saying that the Devil is affecting them. What they do not know that they are scapegoating an imaginary being that is the Devil for something that is actually a part of their mind, that they can't see as actually psychological needs. The Devil affecting them is just their mind, maybe the unconscious mind, affecting them, and it works independently from God, let alone the Devil. In fact, I say there is no need for the Devil or God to be a part of the mind of human beings.

I do hope you all can see what I mean here.

RE: My views on God and religion
I would like to point out one other thing while I am at it. Two things, in fact.

One, religion can be subject to change. Many people, many cultures have different ideas of god and religion, and like in politics, those people can change the rules or add their beliefs into generally accepted ideas about God and religion. It does not have that people have different interpretations and beliefs about things, and religion is about belief. Therefore, religion is, or has the tendency to be inconsistent. In comparison, science, the laws of the universe and logic itself do not really change. I believe in the latter three more than religion, and as I said, people try to escape reality with religion. It may work for a time, but in the long run, you have to face the reality and adapt to it, or doing otherwise could lead to your downfall, and if not, to your offspring's downfall, and so on. Escaping reality, especially in the long run, is not mentally healthy behavior to me.

Two, I think religion was created to tell people that they do not have to accept reality, and as a means to gain power. The people who conceived religion back then did not know much about science, actual logic, and all that, so they just kind of made their own system of reality, even when much later it would have flaws, not be true, etc. So I think religion is rather outdated here.

St. Francis was in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy?

God exists in the series but he is a complete dingbat.

Clearly, that did not answer my question.

You just bring it up and then can't answer a simple question?

I did a quick search on Google, and I found nothing that supports that the person you are talking about was in A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So therefore, I am sure what you said about that person was made up.
