teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Forget about the beer goggles because religion goggles will make you fall in love with rotting corpses.

Oh woe! the earth quake has destroyed my house, killed my wife and all three of my daughters.
My son is here, thank and praise the almighty for saving my son and myself!
I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

"The tornado flattened our whole town.  Ninety-one homebound people were unable to escape and perished in the storm.  But Five Corners Good Book Baptist Church wasn't scratched!"

"It's a miracle!"

Pastor Rick Morrow of Beulah Church in Richland, MO claimes autism is caused by the devil.

He says it is because "My God doesn't make junk. God doesn't make mess-ups."

Morrow also serves on a local school board.

^^^ Obviously god makes psychotics.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

God made cancer, typhoid, ebola, and lots of other lovely things... I think he should have stayed in bed that day!
The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us will fly to the stars.

Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups

Arguing with an engineer is like wrestling with a pig in mud ..... after a while you realise that the pig likes it!
