RE: 2024 US Presidential Election
Quote:A Morning Consult poll on Tuesday found both former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis trailing President Biden in head-to-head matchups.

The poll found Trump trailing the current president by 2 percent in a head-to-head hypothetical matchup among registered voters. DeSantis falls behind Biden further, by 5 percent.

Trump is the runaway leader at this early stage of the GOP presidential primary, while DeSantis is his closest competitor.

The polls are both close, and show that many voters are undecided or want to vote for a third candidate.

In both match-ups, 10 percent or more of voters said they would vote for somebody other than Biden or his Republican challenger. Four percent said they don’t know which candidate they would vote for in the hypothetical race between Trump and Biden, while seven percent said they didn’t know who they would back in a DeSantis versus Biden race.

A more-moderate GOP nominee would likely unseat Biden.

I surely do not want a Republican to be elected in 2024....I don't even care if they un-earth a decent one (if there is such a thing), but the Democratics can hopefully do better than Biden. I get the feeling that some of those on the fence would jump if Biden wasn't running.

And good lord, has Harris done ANYTHING? Really disappointed in her except that I don't think she is going to be charged with illegal activity. I am not sure she could be accused of any activity at all.

Geez I dread the next election.

To be fair, the same is true of most every veep in our history.

Understood, at least we knew that Dan Quayle couldn't spell.  And Pence finally found a spine on Jan 6.  I think the last thing I heard from Harris was her call to Biden saying 'we did it' after the election was called.

Uncle Joe isn’t getting the credit he deserves. A massive infrastructure plan, lower cost meds, killing terrorists, strengthening NATO, stellar job creation, investing billions in climate change, taxing corporations, cutting child poverty, etc, etc.

I don't think primarying their own party's president will be a winning move for Democrats. VPs gonna VP.

The DNC will either be 100% behind Biden or they will reach an agreement with Biden where he steps down in favor of Harris or a different candidate.

Frankly, Biden might be one of the easiest primary targets in presidential history. A younger, rogue left-leaning politician who is less focused on culture war nonsense could probably run circles around him. Too bad there really isn't anyone like that out there right now that is willing to step up.

It's not that I think Biden has done a bad job.  But I do think that his age and some blunders of late will work against him.
