If you make a claim, be prepared to back it up with something other than being in a dream state. And, for future reference, you can't use the Bible to prove the Bible. You shouldn't deter religious people, you should encourage them to come. you've nothing to lose and everything to gain by inviting great discussion. at the end of the day you're both after meaning and truth - the discussions could cooperate to that end. :-) RE: [split] Are Questions About God Important?

(December 7, 2023 at 6:07 am)Confused-by-christianity Wrote: if you dont believe the experience, cant you just carry on not believing it??? it's no harm to anyone - im not trying to convince or persuade - so why the upset??Unfounded beliefs can cause harm, because they dont exist in a vacuum, because they inform your actions, and your actions *drumroll* can harm others. What are your beliefs about the sheer existence of LGBT people? Gay Marriage? ...or any other possibly bigoted view, based on your belief that results in trying to discriminate against others. Do you have any of those beliefs? Do you think they do harm to others? If you dont care if we buy your beliefs, and if you dont care about their correctness and attribution either, why waste any bandwidth here? If you need to share experiences with no critical thinking or critique involved, do that with other church members, or keep praying, aka talking to yourself. Why is it that criticue is so threatening to you and your beliefs? Do you need to shield them? If so, why and from what do you need to shield them?

You clearly are confused. You don't get anything. What I said had nothing to do with you, persecution boy.
Just like all the other "brilliant" christiboi warriors who come through here, when your master plan unravels, immediately I might add, your true color shine through.
Confused-by-christianity:
You shouldn't deter religious people, you should encourage them to come. you've nothing to lose and everything to gain by inviting great discussion. at the end of the day you're both after meaning and truth - the discussions could cooperate to that end. :-) That's rich coming from someone who when they have beliefs challenged the best the can muster is: You forgot to sign off with... "Rant Over" Practice what you preach. ...... And stop throwing those stones, Mr. Glass House. That hasn't happened yet. Thats a great point - I could open more threads??? We could link videos from youtube ?? Debates - like WLC vs C Hitchens for example Near death experiences - these are life changing for people - many seem to say they met god - so athiests, agnostics and thiest would find this valueable to discuss Bible project which explains the bible from a christian expert - then people could discuss why they agree or disagree ... things like that This thread, which was split a few pages in - is currently 13th in the list by reply rate. The greatest reply rates are from really old threads ( 1) 10yr old thread, 2) 9yr old thread, 3) 1.5 yr old thread, 4) 4yrs, 5) 11yrs it's basically ongoing admin, 6) 5, 7) 1, 8) 4, 9) 2, 10) 2, 11) 3,) It seems to me that this thread is getting a fair amount of action - it seems the place would go quiet again when i leave????
