Mysterious monolith appears on hillside in Wales - prompting yet more conspiracy theories

[Image: skynews-hay-on-wye-toblerone_6487749.jpg]

The silver monolith was spotted by walkers on Hay Bluff near the Powys town of Hay-on-Wye at the weekend.

It follows a spate of monoliths cropping up around the world in 2020 - from the Isle of Wight to Romania, California and the Utah desert.

Conspiracy theorists speculated aliens could be behind the structures - and some people on social media have turned to the same explanation for the structure in Wales.

No one has come forward to claim responsibility for the Welsh monolith, although an anonymous collective called The Most Famous Artist took credit for the structures in America in 2020.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

The very end of the article:

Quote:Then I went up to it and it was about 10ft tall at least and triangular, definitely stainless steel.

"It was hollow and I imagine pretty light. Light enough for two people to carry it up and plant it in the ground."

Mystery solved.

Quote:Pentagon Review Finds No Evidence of Alien Cover-Up

The new congressionally mandated Pentagon report found no evidence that the government was covering up knowledge of extraterrestrial technology and said there was no evidence that any U.F.O. sightings represented alien visitation to Earth.

The 63-page document is the most sweeping rebuttal the Pentagon has issued in recent years to counter claims that it has information on extraterrestrial visits or technology.

Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder, a Defense Department spokesman, said the Pentagon approached the report with an open mind and no preconceived notions, but simply found no evidence to back up claims of secret programs, hidden alien technology or anything else extraterrestrial.

“All investigative efforts, at all levels of classification, concluded that most sightings were ordinary objects and phenomena and the result of misidentification,” General Ryder said in a statement.

In absolute fairness, if you’re tasked with getting more Democratic voters, and your plan is to bring in people who aren’t legally allowed to vote and for whom actually qualifying to vote is an uphill battle (spoiler alert: you have to be a citizen to vote in American elections, and the path to citizenship is needlessly labyrinthine even if you came into America legally), you probably suck at your job.

The idea that an agency that has been unable to pass its own audit for 5 years can effectively now audit all of its historical programs going back to 1945 and claim any sort of legitimacy in the eyes of the public… totally ridiculous
