Russia and Ukraine
RE: Russia and Ukraine
The Russians seems to have maintained their cold-war era military industries. If they are able to outgun Ukrainian by 5 to 1 or even by 10 to 1 (despite all the Western support to Ukraine. Ex: France is said to have 3 days of artillery shells left that could only be enough for a 100 km frontline if it was in a similar war today / that figure is similar for most European countries) it means that they still have huge production capabilities. Yes these may be obsolete weapons, but they are still producing them massively.

+ The propaganda machine in Russia is also working very well. In public spaces they are showing Black and White videos of WWII with Russian soldiers fighting-off the Nazis together with the images of modern troops who are fighting to “liberate” Ukraine from a new type of “Nazi” occupation.

So I agree that the approach in supporting Ukraine against something like that should be a bipartisan issue in the US. Because China on the other side is also watching. If it perceives any form of weakness, it it also ready to make moves in the South China Sea or in Taiwan.  Cool

RE: Russia and Ukraine
China is giving Russia significant support to expand weapons manufacturing as Ukraine war continues, US officials say

The support China is providing includes significant quantities of machine tools, drone and turbojet engines and technology for cruise missiles, microelectronics, and nitrocellulose, which Russia uses to make propellant for weapons, said the officials.

Chinese and Russian entitles have also been working jointly to produce drones inside of Russia, one of the officials said.

The support from China is having a significant impact on Russia’s ability to continue its assault on Ukraine, while Ukraine’s military has been plagued with equipment and weapon shortages. The challenge for Ukraine is exacerbated by Republicans in the US Congress continuing to block a vote on a new American military aid package to Kyiv.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

So, how much longer might Ukraine last, because it seems they are not going to last much longer, given the article in the post right above this one.

If they can hold out until we get a funcitonal congress, they might have a chance.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Somehow, I honestly doubt that. For some reason, I just don’t see it happening.

When they weren't suffering shell hunger they engineered what the russians called an artillery genocide. At best, the russians have a 2-1 numerical advantage in artillery pieces, assuming everything russia has listed actually exists and is functional. It started out worse, the russians numerical advantage hasn't worked out for them.

The us isn't actually the key piece on this one, because most of their arty, 2/3rds or 3/4s I can't recall offhand, is soviet standard. We don't have that stuff. We don't make that stuff. We don't use that stuff. We play war daddy, going around the world buying it up...but people have been telling us no. What they need from us are patriots and short range air defense...which won't help with the arty situation, but it would put a damper on the terror attacks and give ukrainian mechanized forces a way to advance in the face of k series helicopters.

So, you are saying the USA is not going to play a big factor for Ukraine? I mean, it does make sense if that is what you’re going for here.

In any case, state TV experts in Russia refer to Mike Johnson as "theirs," just like Trump.

This is why those in the USA should vote blue for this year’s election instead of red. Well, it is partly why, and I don’t mean just voting for those running for a seat in the house.

I'm pointing out that we're not the primary driver of whether or not ukranian artillery can keep firing.  The best we can do is buy it from other countries to facilitate transfer, but that assumes stock for sale.
