Looking at all the previous comments, I can't find one where someone is lamenting that Trump wasn't killed. Coud you be more specific about who 'you're' is and cite a post number from this thread, please? Cause otherwise it seems like the echoes are between your ears.

I haven't said much of anything on the matter yet, but I will now.

I do not wish that he had been killed, nor do I think anyone else should be either. To be clear, I despise the man, but I wish him a very very long life in prison. Making him a martyr would only serve to vastly increase the odds of expanded political violence and domestic terrorism. Aside from that pragmatic reason, it offends my values to wish another dead, particularly via extrajudicial violence.

The one idea that's so unlikely about this assassination that it would be conspiracy theory worthy is that somebody from the left (in very right skewed US terms) of the political spectrum would have attempted this one.

The would be killer was obviously a member of the far-right republitraitor party and probably an even further right MAGAt.

My thinking went straight to it having been planned by the far right for the sole purpose of getting more people to vote for Trump.

I wouldn't be surprised. I saw the video of 1/6 where the Capitol Police are taking selfies with the insurrectionists. Not that big of a stretch that the cop looks and backs off, since he *knows* what's going on. /paranoid

As for people pointing the shooter out to other law enforcement, there were people all over the place talking and cheering and the like. I'm sure there was some data overload involved. And the cop who peeked over the roof line? If he got in a firefight with the guy, his rounds have the chump and the rest of the crowd as potential downrange receptacles. He was not in a position to shoot.

I would doubt that the young man who was doing the shooting had enough experience and skill as a sniper to simply crease Trump's ear.

It’s reported the shooter was severely bullied growing up. 

Maybe he thought he could do so good making Trump head into a unfilled donut by killing the biggest bully in the USA

Depends on the roofing and the angle. Backstop issue is a possibility, to be sure, but we don't know right now.
