Debating whether to take the plunge and get into pour-over coffee. I haven't opened my new coffee maker yet, maybe that's step one. It's surprising how affordable some of the best pour-over rigs are. Yes the Chemex is $50, but there are options that are equally as good for much less. The Hario V60 starter kit, which includes filter and a matching carafe is under $25. The expensive part is a good electric gooseneck kettle. The cheapest one with all the right features that I've found is $35. Walmart sells a no-frills kettle with almost no features for $13. I may start there. The spout is narrow enough so that you can somewhat direct the flow, and if I like pour-over coffee, I can return it within 90 days and put that money towards a good kettle.

What's everyone up to right now?

My new ice maker arrived. I had it tilted 45-degrees while trucking it up from the mailroom, so it likely won't be ready to use until tomorrow, but I'm quite happy.
Today is my weekly official shopping day. Not sure how it's going to play out just yet.
Unboxing my new, digital level finder. It even came with a form-fitting cloth storage bag. It's just perfect for finding the angle for my fixed-angle knife sharpener system. Just the right size.

This is more of a hobby with me, so the manual methods are a feature, not a drawback. They have a new, less expensive kit out.
Amazon is still carrying the Horl2. I'll wait until they get the new model in to decide. Do you use any add-on disks, or just the default ones?
