You seem to think I'm blind to, or perhaps even support, their bigoted parochialism. I'm not and I don't.
It's more a comment on their position and the general state of the world over the last 4 months...

Maybe I’m missing something, but isn’t ’homosexuality should not be treated as an offense’ kind of, ya know, progressive, at least (or especially) for the Church?

Which kinda underlines how regressive they are...

The time for that came and went long ago, but the church will die out here in about a decade and the Vatican will fade into obscurity again once the election is done.

I can’t share your optimism. Organized religions are like genital herpes - they never really go away and can flare up at any time.

Here the average age of the congregation is in the late 70's and rising at ~6 months per annum, so the link from generation to generation has been broken.
CofE and Catholics are falling back on the cathedrals (to concentrate the remaining congregation) most smaller places are now without a church entirely.
Priests are covering 2 or 3 churches in seperate towns. The churches that had been 'mothballed for future generations' have now largely been sold off and converted to other purposes.
For most of northern Europe it's over.

Look at what's happening in Africa. The future of the RCC is there.

And it can stay there!

Nobody in Africa deserves the religious pestilence that the Catholic (or other sects) are bringing. It's there, but it would be good if it died there, as well.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
