As it turns out the Dremel was almost out of charge and I didn't have a cord that would fit it. So even though I moved the grooming table into the house and was all prepped for her, one dog managed to get his nails sorta, kinda trimmed.
I am glad I didn't medicate the nutty one or the neurotic one as I try to use the meds sparingly.
I ordered my own Dremel and will figure it the fuck out if I have to do one paw at a time.
Cripes.
We're too afraid of hurting the dogs when they spaz out for stuff like nail trimming. We took them to the groomer and had that done. Groomers are far better at getting that done than we ever were. We have a new dog- a deer Chihuahua. We're pretty sure she was abused, beyond the simple fact of having been dropped at the shelter, pregnant, inside a bag with five other dogs. She had 4 puppies shortly after the attendants found her. We've had her two months and she is getting better at coming to me and licking the back of my hand...and then running away. She used to run in a panic if she had to get by any of the guys here when we were walking around. The male "humans" from her experience must have been pretty bad. We don't want to take her to a groomer yet, we feel that she's been traumatized enough already.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

Yeah, that's not gonna happen with her.

Got woke up early by Quinn...our quivering, cowardly early warning system who can hear thunder from miles and miles away and wants me to be awake to share in the storm.
smh
This one is supposed to last for hours.

That may be one of the benefits of having a deaf dog.

We have a barometric beagle/dachshund. When the barometric pressure drops, this badger killer starts trembling, WAY before it looks in any way that it's going to rain. Even sleeping. Her toenails rattle on the floor like castanets when she's sleeping and rain is on the way.

OK, here are our two new additions. The black and white one is called "Pepper", the brown and white one is called "Ginger". Wife calls them her Spice Girls. I fed Pepper lunch today and managed to get her to climb up into the recliner, a new skill. She was wiggling all over and Ginger jumped up and was wiggling all over. Both of them were competing for petting. That's a first for both. Ginger is finally trusting me, after all these weeks.
I'm shit for photographs. Pepper does actually have eyes...

Tomorrow I have to take Hoss (aka Ziggy) to the vet for his senior dog exam and vaccines. Going to ask while there for something to have on hand when it appears his old bones are hurting him. Other than the occasional rough day, he seems to be doing pretty well. I hope the vet agrees.
