You seem to have answered my question with a question, you seem to do this a lot.

Of course I am not suggesting it is impossible, only that doubt is a stronger motive to critically examine a claim, than the lack of it.

Do you think doubt and faith are compatible?

Yes, I think doubt is integral to faith.

Quote:Sheldon: Religious faith, is defined as "strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof."

I don't see how doubt is an integral part of strong belief?
You never addressed that question...or offered any reason for your faith that a deity exists?

Anyway I am off out for now...

Because definitions are not prescriptive. And it is improper usage of a dictionary to shop around the different senses and give them all equal merit. You are supposed to go and look at the context in which a word is used and be able to infer its meaning. And even if you still care about proper definitions, you need to pull out a Greek concordance and dictionary and research its original usage and meaning, not pull out your merriam-webster.

Oh, so that was what was wrong with your faith parachute, was it? You don't believe the things you say to us. Is it any surprise that we don't believe you when you say them?

The telepathy tapes did make me open-minded. So go ahead, tell me what I believe, what am I thinking?

Perhaps if you were to be frank, and honest, and answered questions, this might help.

What is the best (of the reasons you claimed you had) for having faith a deity exists, or is even possible?

This would be a starting point for any belief I hold, maybe you have a different threshold for credulity?

If even the possibility is beyond your threshold, what is there to say? Surely, you can at least accept the idea is conceivable, or perhaps not inconceivable, right?

Straw man fallacy, yet again, and another question unanswered, yet again.

Like mermaids you mean, or Superman? Yes I can conceive of both of those "ideas", your point being?

Do you remember many years ago, on the Atheist Republic forum, when you insisted you had falsified species evolution? I mean I have the same username, as do you?

Don't feel too bad, @Belaqua gave you kudos... Salute

Oh, but not one single reason you're able to offer, after claiming you "have good reasons for your (blind) faith in a deity, quelle surprise.

it seems integrity is still less important than blind faith to you. Well, no one can say you weren't offered plenty of chances to offer any justification for your subjective superstitious beliefs, but failed to do so...

Presuppositionalism.

So if one already believes mermaids exist, or that the earth is flat, then faith in those beliefs is reasonable to you?

Hilarious

Yes, like mermaids or Superman—they're conceivable too. Is that where you draw the line? Or is the fact that something is conceivable enough to at least not consider it impossible?

I wouldn't think it impossible that mermaids evolved somewhere in an infinite universe, would you? It may be silly, but certainly not impossible.

Are you ever going to answer a single question?

Now that one is a yes or no, keeping it as simple as is possible.

Also this is yet another dishonest straw man fallacy from you, since I never claimed a deity or deities were / are impossible. I only asked you to support your claims. It seems you can't offer a single "good reason" for your faith a deity exists, or is even possible?
