This priest is slowly realizing what the main purpose of Christianity is.
Quote:'Dangerous': Priest says Trump has 'co-opted' Christianity to 'secure his own power'
A longtime Episcopalian priest is accusing President Donald Trump of exploiting Christianity to execute his own political agenda — and is giving Christians a clear choice going forward.
DeLashmutt compared Trump to the Roman emperor Constantine, who he noted also used a strict interpretation of Christianity to accomplish his goal of getting various territories under his thumb. And he observed that, like Trump, Constantine's belief system was contradictory with the "diverse, decentralized and often theologically fragmented" groups of Christians at the time. When Constantine convened the Council of Nicaea in 325 C.E., it was done not for religious reasons but for "imperial stability."
"For the first time, Christian belief was not only about faithfulness to Christ; it became a matter of loyalty to the emperor. Heresy was no longer just a spiritual wound in the body of Christ — it became a political threat to imperial order," he wrote. "Christianity was disciplined into a form more useful for holding an empire together. Today, a similar phenomenon is unfolding."
"Constantine’s legacy is complex. Without him, Christianity might never have survived to become the global faith it is today. But the cost of that survival was real: a faith reshaped to serve the needs of empire," DeLashmutt wrote. "Christians today must ask again: Will we follow a Christ who reigns from a cross or one who crowns emperors to secure his own power?"

I love his realization at the end that Christianity had to make a deal with the "devil" in order to survive and thrive. So the devil can be a good thing.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Televangelist Jim Bakker is urging his followers to give him million dollars. His plan is that 1,000 people donate $1,000 each.

Yep! He just doesn't seem to be able to handle money.

The Catholic Church has defined what woman is so that it can exclude her and that is great. This way the church actually respects women and protects them from people who harm women by allowing them to have sex outside marriage, with the contraception pill, and IVF.
It's the cultural elites who have poisoned the minds of people that women must have equal roles in society as men just so they can make the church look bad.
Quote:Next pope won't be a woman. And that's OK with Catholic women like me.
I can predict only one thing with certainty about the next pope: He will be 100% biologically male.
That fact and that he will be chosen by an all-male College of Cardinals, which convenes May 7, to lead a global institution that refuses to compromise on its teaching concerning an all-male priesthood will strike many as antiquated and even offensive.
Today, the prevailing view among cultural elites has rendered them unable – or more likely, unwilling – to define what a woman is, even in the most basic biological sense.
And while our contemporary Western culture struggles to delineate “woman” in the year 2025, the church has been fine-tuning its teachings on her as complement to man while fully his equal since anno Domini (A.D.) year 1.
The church stands boldly athwart of a post-Christian culture where women are commodified, objectified and exploited through promiscuity and prostitution, sex trafficking, artificial reproductive technology and toxic reproductive pharmaceuticals, abortion and surrogacy.
Further, the church has been unflinching in its opposition to gender ideology, the logical ends of which erase women as a category, and at great cost to our basic legal standing and foundational human rights.
But because the Catholic Church does not ordain women as priests, according to social elite label makers, it must be sexist!
I have yet to meet a single Catholic woman of any political stripe, socioeconomic, professional or marital status, or age who has expressed frustration over the fact that the priesthood is all male. We love our priests. We do not want to be them.
Being a Catholic woman is not about power but about love, self-sacrifice and friendship.

Not to mention that this dumb bitch actually thinks that society is fine with sex trafficking.
Also, what is this crap about the so called "cultural elites" I've been hearing about lately from Catholics? Is this the new Catholic Boogeyman?

The new pope has spoken, let's see what he says:
Quote:During the Italian language section of his homily, Pope Leo XIV has lamented that there are many places where “technology, money, success, power or pleasure” are valued over Christian faith
Oh no, I value almost anything (including technology, money, success, power or pleasure) over Christianity. Does that mean that I am a bad person? 😔
Quote:“In today’s world, it is not easy to preach the Gospel and bear witness to its truth, where believers are mocked, opposed, despised or at best tolerated and pitied,”
Ah yes, god forbid that Christians get challenged about their faith. Not to mention that you just despised everyone who has a different worldview than you, but you expect people to be different than you are. Hypocrite.
Quote:"A lack of faith is often tragically accompanied by the loss of meaning in life, the neglect of mercy, appalling violations of human dignity, the crisis of the family and so many other wounds that afflict our society."
LoL, no. There he goes again mocking, opposing, despising and pitying people for having a different worldview than he does.
Quote:“modern society often dismisses faith as absurd, meant for the weak and unintelligent,” source
Well, believing that a carpenter walked on water 2000 years ago is pretty absurd and unintelligent, so why would it's adherents be any different?

Vatican Recognizes Eucharistic Miracle in Vilakkannoor; Official Declaration Slated for May 31
After more than a decade of investigation, the Vatican has officially recognized the Eucharistic miracle that took place at Christ the King Church in Vilakkannoor, under the Archdiocese of Thalassery. The event, which reportedly revealed the face of Jesus on the consecrated Host during Mass, has now been affirmed as a legitimate Eucharistic miracle by the Holy See.
Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplani of Thalassery conveyed the Vatican’s decision to the faithful during a Holy Mass held at the Vilakkannoor Church. He explained that the Holy See found the miracle to be one that deepens the faith of the Church in the real presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist and has thus approved its veneration in accordance with Catholic doctrine.
A significant event to mark this recognition will take place at Vilakkannoor on Saturday, May 31 at 2:30 p.m., when Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio and representative of Pope Leo XIV in India, will preside over the Eucharistic celebration and officially proclaim the miracle on behalf of the Vatican.
The miraculous occurrence dates back to November 15, 2013, when Fr. Thomas Patikkal was celebrating Holy Mass. During the consecration, the face of Jesus reportedly appeared on the Host. Following Church protocol, the Host was transferred to the Archdiocese for safekeeping and observation. Remarkably, the Host remained unchanged for over four years, after which it was returned to Vilakkannoor in September 2018 for public veneration, continuing until January 2020.
