He wants to misinterpreted the word evidence, as he can't eliminate it, but wants to, all to hold onto a belief for which there is none. It's not much of an argument really.

To think, IMO, He started off really well. Had some good insight made a few fair points and then just jerked the wheel and sped off the side of a cliff.

It's certainly bad science practice. It may be useful in a courtroom, but that's not exactly a great endorsement.

The first part is car crash funny, since the exact opposite is true. the second is yet another false equivalence. Objective evidence is far more reliable than eyewitness testimony, which is notoriously unreliable, precisely because there is no check on subjective bias, and subjective interpretation, unlike science. 

How any of this remotely evidences, or is a sound reason for, belief in any deity, is anyone's guess. If one removes objective evidence, and rely only on subjectively biased interpretations, one could of course believe anything, but then its clear that this is exactly why John is peddling this nonsense.

 I can't tell people what to do but if anyone continues to have any discussion with you its in my opinion a grave error on their part and their time would be better spent teaching a goldfish Algebra.

That's unfortunate. There's a reason why falsification is the gold standard in science and not confirmation. Take a wild guess which is used synonymously with evidence.
