Florida: 21 people fall ill after drinking raw milk

If ONLY someone had invented a way to remove harmful bacteria from milk...

Quote:The Florida Department of Health is warning about the risks of drinking raw, unpasteurized milk after 21 people, including six children under the age of 10, were sickened by E. coli and campylobacter bacteria linked to raw milk from the same farm. Seven people have been hospitalized, and two have developed severe complications.

Raw milk has been promoted by online wellness influencers and raw food advocates, boosting sales in recent years, but public health officials say it can be risky.

The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say raw milk can carry life-threatening bacteria, such as E. coli, campylobacter, listeria or salmonella.

These can cause symptoms including diarrhea, vomiting and stomach cramps. Severe cases can result in a condition called hemolytic uremic syndrome, or HUS, which can lead to kidney failure.

Since 1987, 143 outbreaks have been linked to raw milk or raw milk products, some involving miscarriages, stillbirths, kidney failure and even deaths, according to the FDA.

"Promoted by online wellness influencers"? What about government officials like RFK Jr.?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Raw milk is a big thing in the fresh food movement down in florida. Has been for 15-20 years now. We used to have to label it as pet food to sell it at coops and farmers markets. What that story tells me is it's gotten big enough for a commercial style mixing operation since I last had the pleasure of giggling about wealthy people eating cat food.

Another solution to this non-problem: don’t drink milk, full stop.

Most strains of E. coli pop their clogs at 140F. Most foods are cooked at temperatures higher than that.

But I didn’t say ‘Don’t use milk’, I said don’t drink it. It’s vital for cooking, it just sucks as a beverage.
