In the video, Douglass, an abolitionist who devoted his life to anti-slavery efforts, describes slavery as a compromise between the Founding Fathers and the Southern colonies for the benefit of the U.S. The depiction also criticizes fellow abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison.

It's part-and-parcel with the attacks on university programs and the Lincoln Center, and yes, the refusal of the victims to fight back signifies their defeat. The same might be said about the media after the WaPo threw its staff under the bus and Paramount. Democrats, deans, CEOs ... when is anyone going to have the balls to fight?

Reminds me of Lincoln's support of Grant: "At least he fights." Where's our fighters? The Texas Dems are making a good show, but I'm not sure that will matter. The town-hall detractors make some headlines, but where's the traction?

Weren't there some protests? Mostly however if people didn't started to fight already they won't start till it be too late I think.

Not enough to matter. My sense is that what resistance exists is largely the "someone else has more time to deal with this" sort. There's a lassitude that's disturbing, an idea that Trump is only a passing storm, which I obviously don't agree with even if my ability to march is hampered by my disability.
