The bill is unlikely to pass Congress in this iteration and will get vetoed by Trump even if it does. Where it may get interesting and important will be a short way into the future. Right now, the Republicans are smarting from some serious losses and staring down mid-term elections. They're having their noses rubbed in the fact that they're about to go from being powerful to being unemployed. One of the few plays that they may have that would allow them to break from Trump in a way that even his supporters couldn't object to much would be if it was revealed that he knew about Epstein, or actively participated. It's a weakness and they may exploit it. If they don't, the mid-terms will be a re-run of 2018, and they know it. If that happens, there are going to be congressional hearings and investigations about it.
Whether it's fighting within Republican ranks or the Democrats that bring it, you can expect this to not die a quiet death.

Quote:NEW YORK (AP) — Almost two weeks after Republicans lost badly in elections in Georgia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia, many GOP leaders insist there is no problem with the party’s policies, its message or President Donald Trump’s leadership.
Trump says Democrats and the media are misleading voters who are concerned about high costs and the economy. Republican officials aiming to avoid another defeat in next fall’s midterms are encouraging candidates to embrace the president fully and talk more about his accomplishments.
Those are the major takeaways from a series of private conversations, briefings and official talking points involving major Republican decision-makers across Washington, including inside the White House, after their party’s losses Nov. 4. Their assessment highlights the extent to which the fate of the Republican Party is tied to Trump, a term-limited president who insists the economy under his watch has never been stronger.
That’s even as an increasing number of voters report a different reality in their lives.

"Politician ignores voter concerns, wins landslide" is not a headline I've read before.
Well, not headlines about allegedly democratic countries.

I stand corrected. I still presume some democratic norms, apparently ... silly me.

Trump's Hypocrisy Reaches New Levels
Quote:This week, Donald Trump sparked a wave of criticism this week after using a Bible reference to discuss “vulnerable children,” prompting widespread disbelief online and renewed scrutiny of his rhetoric around abuse and exploitation.
During a recent appearance, Trump pivoted to a biblical framing while addressing criticism of how his administration has historically handled migrant children, saying he was guided by Scripture and a desire to “protect the most vulnerable.” But the comment set off an immediate backlash, especially following renewed public attention on the Jeffrey Epstein documents and Trump’s past associations with the financier.
Not to mention waging a court fight to strip some 16 million children of food assistance.

The great man included "stopping Transgender for Everyone" in one of his knockoff tweets as yet another accomplishment of his administration. He keeps saying this. No one seems to want to ask him what he thinks he means, and who told him what he thinks it means. When he wakes up in the morning, does someone bring him a piece of paper with a number on it of all the people who didn't have gender reassignment surgery in the last 24hrs....or...?
