You need a healthy economy to maintain a big war for years. He wants to declare victory before the economy collapses and takes his regime down with it. I think that will happen even if the war gets settled, because they owe everyone and the barking grandma money, and who will want to invest in such an arbitrary system? Some but not many is my bet.

Not surprised. I am ashamed of/for the US in the current situation, both here and abroad.

It's a dumb idea because you can't force anyone to surrender until they themselves feel the costs outweigh the benefits. Ukrainians are largely against the current "peace plan", in my opinion because they feel it's one cooked up between DC and Moscow and then being foisted upon them. |
