Missed the date? No worries. Make an excuse, re-calibrate, throw another dart at a calendar and proclaim that day will really be it.

And, pass that collection plate a few more times.

My favourite story of this kind is when William Miller's prediction of the Second Coming in 1843 failed to materialize (resulting in 'The Great Disappointment'), some of his followers insisted that Jesus had indeed returned. If the rest of us didn't notice, that was our lookout.

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

Imagine a pastor or a priest trying to explain feminism. Well, imagine no more because...

Pastor Jonathan Shelley says that a wife doesn't get to say if or when she wants to have kids or not.

"How effeminate is that, to let your wife tell you when she's gonna have kids or not? I mean that's feminism if I've ever heard it...she doesn't tell me what to do."

IFB pastor Stephen Kennedy: “I find more women today, more girls today running their mouth, more today than ever before. You know, there was a time in my generation that if you didn’t keep your girlfriend quiet, you got beat up.”
