No atheist would stand by a pedo. Why on earth would they?

Some might. But then, during my readings I've found an overwhelming majority of pedophiles come from very oppressive families, typically very strict, orthodox islamic or christian families.

Thats the correlation there.. beyond the statistical norm.

The 4,392 priests who were accused amount to approximately 4% of the 109,694 priests in active ministry during that time. Of these 4,392, approximately:
Wikipedia
The prevalence of pedophilia in the general population is not known,[3][60] but is estimated to be lower than 5% based on several smaller studies with prevalence rates between 3% and 9%. Wikipedia

The rates of "accused" priests were in line with rates in the population, the rate of convicted priests would be even lower.

That is just the priests mofo....what about the husbands and their little daughters?? Hmmm?

Don't get me started prick Angry

Priests, sure, but you're forgetting general rape figures themselves, as compared with christian population density, especially in the US. Not to mention the hauntingly large amount of priests who get reported many years after the fact, sometimes not even by the victims but by witnesses. The church sure works hard to hush it up whenever it happens; you have to wonder how much of it we DON'T hear about.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot about this; the average rapist commits only 2 to 3 assaults before arrest. Sometimes only once. But, if you want a good example of how many nuns and priests can...I invite you to read about a certain Irish nun, recently accused of over 90...count them...90!!! counts of sexual assault.

I just gave you the numerical figures [and you can verify them pretty easily using any basic search engine, or, hell, wikipedia if you wanna find the sources for the US department of corrections] that show that christians overwhelmingly outnumber atheists in prisons for violent and sexual crimes both in sheer numbers AND in gross averages, supplementing the point as well that you simply can't accuse all atheists of being similar because of one or two murderers because the only thing that truly 'unites' us is that we don't believe in god[s]. Whereas christians are all united by a rigid belief system that demands they act a certain way, adhere to a strict code of what god demands, and follow the pentateuch and bible as prophesy and instructive moral literature.

Really, if you can't grasp the points I'm making, hey, that's your problem, I laid it out pretty bare for ya, but don't call me illogical and juvenile in some snide little offhanded way just because of your own limitations, cuz you're fitting the general stereotype of the condescending holier-than-thou christian when you do.

In other words you are proving my point that you can judge most christians by the actions of their peers quickly and easily and with a fair degree of accuracy. Might wanna stop doing that.

OK, I'll try and simplify this for you...Statistical data does not prove anything regarding the behavior of any one individual. Correlation is not causation. If 90% of murderers preferred coffee to tea, does that mean coffee drinkers are more likely to be murderers? Its a ridiculous and oft quoted set of statistics that show nothing that wouldn't be expected in a country where most people would describe themselves as "christian" when asked, but have no real christian beliefs. Its interesting that atheists in the UK are now arguing this very point in order to show that most people are not christian in fact, despite the figures in studies. This is in order to dismantle the argument of the Christan bishops in the house of lords who have seats becuase they say we are a christian country. These type of statistics are useless as they can be interpreted in any way you want!

Statistical data hides the fact that your religion is far more harmful that the stats disclose Stat... so much goes unreported. I Know.

You missed the point, Creed - I don't care where the pedos come from, simply that the "morally superior" organization they come from doesn't seek to punish them purely to protect their ranks.

Oh I got the point and I know what you mean. I was saying that largely for the benefit of our...'friend'...among us on this topic. Wouldn't want him getting the wrong idea, now, would we?

@StatCrux: That's more or less the problem I have with christians, actually; the identification without the effort to adhere. But what do you expect, really? Your religion literally says "any sin you confess to, you're absolved of...UNLESS YOU'RE A DIRTY NON-BELIEVER IN WHICH CASE YOU GONN' BUUUURN! Devil " So...yeah, they're still Christians. Maybe only in the most loosest sense of the word, but then, that's your religion's fault for teaching people from the get-go that they are born bad eggs and sinners right from the start but that the most heinous of sins [no, I'm not referring to unbelief, I'm talking about aCTUALLY heinous CRIMES] can basically be prayed away for a guaranteed spot in heaven. Seriously, tell a kid from birth he's a sinner and a bad person and, big shock, he grows up to be a serial killer or a rapist. So...yes, I can say that the evidence fits the statistics.
