As I said, Nicholas does have self-awareness as it is controlled by the brain stem.

I can tell you right now this is not going to end good. Define thinking.

Self-awareness for the third time is controlled by the brain stem, maybe you would understand it if I called it basic awareness. What you are asking is how can one have higher functions of self-awareness without any cortical influence. Nobody ever said Nicholas has higher functions and considering his missing neocortex that would be an impossibility.

"Thought generally refers to any mental or intellectual activity involving an individual's subjective consciousness."

"Consciousness is a term that refers to the relationship between the mind and the world with which it interacts. It has been defined as: subjectivity, awareness, the ability to experience or to feel, wakefulness, having a sense of selfhood, and the executive control system of the mind."

Perhaps I misused words initially, however my original stance has not changed and I have no desire to debate this further. He's a human without person.

I've had sleep paralysis experiences. It is still the single most surreal experience of my entire life. Hated it.

Sleep paralysis just sounds unpleasant. I'm glad I've never experienced that one.

I've never really believed in disembodied spirits, but there was a time that I thought perhaps "ghost phenomena" were explainable as emotional and/or psychic echoes (I'm sure we've all heard this idea). It actually made sense to me until I realized that emotions and thoughts, no matter how strong, cannot directly influence the world except through the actions of a person. If thoughts and emotions can be "broadcast" beyond the brain that manufactures them, I am unaware of the process that accomplishes it.

Awareness?!!!!! How many damn times must I say he is aware until it sinks in?

That sucks. Sad I thought I was dead, but I was having those weird half hallucinations that come with it. I could see everything, I couldn't move, but everything was wavy and weird. I snapped out of it quickly.

A lot of this alien abduction horseshit is traceable to sleep paralysis, too. That and a bunch of drunken rednecks.

What is a ghost?

You can't say you've seen one if no one knows what one is, obviously.
