What's growing in your garden?

Nature is winning so far.. it defeated my last stand of expensive weedkiller and kept on coming, so now my gardening efforts are reduced to waving a white flag hoping it will take mercy on me.

We are going for a very Japanese theme to the whole house.

For your garden, I would suggest putting up little plaques with the scientific names of the weeds attached.

Then people will think you've put them there and compliment you on your healthy robust garden.

I would mention what I'm working on in the herbology department but er... no, bad idea.

BTW what I'm talking about is pretty much the whole damn lot, two weeks ago that area was a big patch of sand.Big Grin

I agree with Nomorefaith. Very zen feel to this. Everything feels purposeful but casual, like the blocks in the path. You just enlarged your living space, didn't you? I'm out in my garden all the time too.

Your grass looks frigging perfect. My dogs, the bitch in particular, are very hard on what little lawn I have. I may have to re-designate it as native garden, or if she gets her way, a lunar landscape.

I have to agree. It's like when gals talk about their boobies. Without pictures it just isn't the same.

Really, a synthetic? Looks great. I've looked at it for my bit of lawn but the price has put me off. I think what they make now is great looking but my 20 foot diameter circle would involve so much wastage and the stuff is expensive to begin with. I'd retire my mower in a heart beat for the right price.

No, it's real grass. the nature strip out the front is fake but that's ok.

I wanted real for the back.

Well Whateverist, the garden should have a ZEN feel to it. Everything is there for a very good reason...to perform a function within the constraints of micro-climate.

You can't have a garden with dogs or cats! Thanks to an allergy, I will not have pets; so I can have a garden. The lawn is a variety of Buffalo called "Pure Silk" resilient and hard wearing like normal Buffalo but soft under foot. Big Grin

Tomorrow we are out looking for a garden seat, Planter box (decorative Stone ware) and an extra bag of "Blue Metal" Gravel to finish off the job. What Zen did not show was the "Kitchen Herb Patch"; all of the garden is to grow those species that are far too expensive to purchase to compliment our meals.... I would LOVE to plant a Mango Tree-Mangifera indica - Mango
but this would totally overwhelm our little 4 Metres x 4 Metres {13.125 feet x 13.125 feet} backyard

Well it seems I can't have my dogs and a perfect lawn at any rate. But Christopher Lloyd had dogs and managed to make a decent garden at Great Dixter so there is some hope. Big Grin

There is always hope....what grass are you trying to grow mate?? Perhaps a species change will accommodate your dogs and still give you a patch of 'Green'
